Video/Action for Goldenrod

Soooo...I woke up in Goldenrod City today.

Last time I checked I was in Ecruteak, getting ready for my gym battle. Does anyone know what happened? Did I fall asleep for a week or something? I mean, who would go through all the trouble of bringing me back here anyway? As far as I know, Minnie's still in Olivine....

Right. So, did anyone else wake up somewhere they weren't supposed to be today?

What's a symbol?

Ugh, seriously? Okay, it's a marker. Like...breaking twigs and branches of trees in the forest so you know the path through, right?

Only bastards damage trees because they're too stupid to pay attention to the paths that are already there.

So it shows where a certain place is? A city's a pretty big place to have only one marker for.

[Just think, Danny, all this work explaining things and all you'll get out of it is an offer of underwear and Killua wondering if he should gag you.]

Not everyone was raised by wolves and bears, dude.

It's just an icon. Besides, where I'm from this isn't even half as big as some of the bigger cities.

Doesn't mean they should damage nature just because it's convenient.

A lot of the markers on the map look the same. What places do they mark?

Other cities. Didn't your grandpa teach you to read?

He tried to teach me but it didn't seem interesting. I just let him read all his books to me and teach me the important stuff from them.

Well, the markers are labeled with the names of the cities. See, this one's Goldenrod.

[He looks at the word "Goldenrod" on the map for a few moments, trying to commit the shape to memory. He might be able to remember a few of the names, but he wants to know what all the locations are. He probably won't be able to remember all of them. What to do, what to do... Wait, hadn't he seen something else that looked like this "map" thing?

He reaches for the Trainer Handbook and flips through it until he finds the paper copy of the map and pulls out the pen from his bag. He'd encountered the idea of "taking notes" here before, and had done a bit of it working at the PokéCenter in Cherrygrove, writing down the order of numbers with ticks beside each of them so he would know which number each symbol went to. He finds where Goldenrod is on the paper map and draws a crude image of a goldenrod plant over it, not that anyone besides him would be able to tell what it's supposed to be. He points to another marker.]

[Apollo puts his stuff away.]

[He stands.]

[There's a brief pause before he gets the metaphors.]

[A pause. As far as Apollo can tell there's nothing else he needs Danny for.]

I'm going to leave the city then. There are too many people here and not enough plants. [He starts walking past Danny.] Goodbye.

Yeah, see you around then.

[And he's gone, with nary a "thank you for putting up with that" or... *scrolls up* ...or even exchanging names...

...I'm sure he'll learn he's supposed to do those things eventually.]
