Video/Action for Goldenrod

Soooo...I woke up in Goldenrod City today.

Last time I checked I was in Ecruteak, getting ready for my gym battle. Does anyone know what happened? Did I fall asleep for a week or something? I mean, who would go through all the trouble of bringing me back here anyway? As far as I know, Minnie's still in Olivine....

Right. So, did anyone else wake up somewhere they weren't supposed to be today?

Oh, okay, I'm in Goldenrod too. I'll come over there.

Okay. I'll try and get to the ground.

[When Danny arrives, he'll see an uncomfortable-looking kid coming out of the doors, bare feet visible whenever he takes a step. A larger than average Spearow is sitting proudly on one shoulder and a Sentret is peeking out from under his collar on the other shoulder. Apollo's very obviously not happy about being here, though that's not the only thing. Guess whose Pokémon roped him into buying stuff on their way down?]

Wow, you really do look out of place here.

And why's that?

[A bit defensively. He's on edge in this unfamiliar environment. Sentret narrows her eyes suspiciously at Danny and slips farther under Apollo's cloak while Spearow sits up straighter and tries to look cooler.]

Your clothes, for one. One look and most anyone can tell you live on a mountain.

They work for what I need to do.

Uh....sure. Well, anyway, I'm here to teach you the basics.

The basics?

[What the two of them considered "basic" might differ, but Apollo had a few things he wanted to know before even starting on the city. The city at least he could blunder around and try and figure out how to get out of on his own if he absolutely had to.

His arm extended from inside his cloak, holding up a blue and black courier bag.]

Tell me what all the stuff in here is for then.

That's stuff to help you out in the world. You should have a map and a Pokédex in there.

[He moves to a spot nearby where no one's walking and sits down, pulling out the only things he thinks could be what Danny's talking about, his PokéGear (with the "Map" and "Pokédex" buttons clearly labeled - he can't read, as Danny will soon find out), the Trainer Handbook, and the Guide to Pokémon Breeding. He hands them over, then digs around in the bag some more.]

I've figured out what most of this stuff is for, but some of it I don't get. Like these.

[He pulls out three pairs of white briefs.]

If it's so hot out you can't wear more than this then why wear anything at all?

...That's underwear.

...So you're not wearing....ew.

[He doesn't understand Danny's reaction at all.]

Underwear?

[Would Danny prefer dealing with explaining the concept of underwear, or would he rather be the poor Nurse Joy in Cherrygrove who had to explain toilets, sinks, and showers to Apollo, as well as convince him that the waste doesn't go into a big pit ten feet below where he's sleeping?]

[Probably the former.]

Yeah. You wear it so...well, to keep yourself decent.

[This is just getting more and more confusing for him.]

Keep myself decent?

[Is this a bad time to mention that Apollo has no nudity taboo?]

Right. Well, people generally don't like it if you go around with your junk hanging out everywhere.

I keep my garbage with me and put the stuff I can't burn or reuse into the recycling bins when I get to a town.

[...Danny, you can't use euphemisms with Apollo. Though it's amusing me to no end to watch you try.]

[THAT IS MY AIM.]

No, I mean...you know, your...[nervous cough] between your legs, dude.

... [He looks at you like you're growing horns. Why are you beating around the bush here Danny?] What about them? All male humans and mammals have them.

[Beat.]

You're just not supposed to have it out like an animal does, humans have the intelligence to cover it up.

I cover it up.

[He brushes aside his cloak to reveal a sleeveless green shirt, loose green pants without a fly or any openings, and a strip of green cloth tied around his waist as a belt. What, did you think he wasn't wearing anything under there? He lowers his arm and the cloak falls shut.]

It hurts if you scratch it on a branch.

What does this have to do with these underwear things though?

....Well, if you rip your pants, I guess? I'm...really not one for free ballin'.

...

[Alright he's just getting confused by all this. Hopefully the other thing he was wondering about will make more sense. Of course it has to do with human civilization too, so...]

...So what about these things?

[He pulls out some containers: a bottle of soap, a bottle of shampoo, a bottle of conditioner, a Repel, a Max Repel, and a tube of toothpaste.]

Whatever these are they all stink. I'm not sure if I can dump them anywhere without them poisoning the water.

[Apollo doesn't actually smell as bad as Danny might have expected. The only bad smell is a faint whiff of dirty clothes that a decent breeze would hide, and that's only because he hasn't washed them in a while, not out of a day-to-day lack of cleanliness. He mostly smells of earth and green. Kind of a less fake version of a nature-scented air freshener.]

Well, the first two things, those are soaps to wash yourself with. The other two, those are Repels, you spray those on to keep wild Pokémon away. Uh, like how some animals use mud to keep bugs off them.

Why don't you wash with water?

The Repels make sense, just a really bad scent. These two don't like it though. I don't want them to have to smell it while we're traveling.

You use it with water. It's good at cleaning all the dirt and crud off you.

So don't use it then. You can sell it at a store or just give it to someone.
